Grave care in Hanover

The municipal operator directory names 19 sites; 18 have a published profile. The inventory covers exactly the five city cemeteries and 14 district cemeteries managed by Hannover’s municipal cemetery service and listed in section 1 of the current cemetery ordinance. Church, Jewish, private, deconsecrated and other cemeteries outside that service are excluded. Burial rights still exist at five of the six still-dedicated sites taken out of service under section 3. The city states that no burial rights remain at Stadtteilfriedhof Badenstedt – alt.

For a cemetery visit in Hanover, note the cemetery, intended entrance and every available location reference for the grave. Shortly before travelling, check whether visiting times or organisational notices have changed.

The deceased person’s name, grave number and requested work are the key starting points for a care enquiry. Add the occasion, time frame and preferred contact method when those details are relevant to the arrangements.
